Got me a little confused, all the books I have show the white horns on top of the hackle, your pitcures show them under, which is correct?

Hi! "You won't be disappointed." Personally , I try to avoid such claims, as you don´t know how all other people perceive things! (BTW, I didn´t find the blank).

Martin thank you for the info. After looking at the older one I can see how the hook is used. Is this the way you tie the new version?? Great website

thanksx

I spoke last week with my friend, who is usuallely fishing in our non-trouts waters and he told that hes got over than thousand carps on fly. 75procents from ponds and lakes on chironomid emerger and rest from rivers caught on ordinary nymphs. He told me that in still waters is not important fly but technique and thats secret as he said! I saw pictures of carps about 15 up to 20 pounds, bigger as he said "its not possible to stop them form bank". SO I dont know anything... But he promissed me, that hes gonna take me but at summer...

I never imagined anything could be more beautiful than a cutthroat, but Derek's Abstract Cutthroat is more beautiful than the real thing!

Ed,

I could imagine that finding a hook with a sufficiently small eye to fit into a Q-tip could be a problem. In that case I would use a piece of soft plastic tubing to hold the hook. Pass it over the fly tube and stick the hook into the softer (and wider) outer tube.

You can see the construction on this older Plipper.

The tubes I use to tie the fly on are wide and soft enough to hold the hook directly.

I guess I'm missing something where do you get the plastic tube and does the tube extend passed the eye of the hook? I tried the Q-tip idea but could not get it over the eye of a #2 79580 Mustard hook. Thanks Ed, Wyoming

As a collector of Derek DeYoung's paintings I am pleased to see such an excellent showing of his work. Derek is sure to become one of the most sought after fishing artist of our generation.

I grew up fishing with Derek. Through the years I have watched him grow as an avid angler, and into the most talented artist I know of. I have always known him as a very passionate person. When Derek finds something he enjoys he has always given it his all, seeking perfection with what seems to be a flawless touch. The art truly is amazing, and even more so in person. You owe it to yourself to log onto Derek's site to see all of his work. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the article, you really did a nice job of portraying Derek and what his art all about.

Feridun, I did what you recommend, it looks like very interesting, but very big and Iam a little bit nervous... What is it? Lake or dam? How is it looks like with roads around? What fish Ill expect in lake and in rivers? I know that Ive still a lot of questions but thats me and I very appreciate any informations form you!!! You are welcome in Prague

I fished this fly in Russia last week and caught a mail order bride on my backcast. Should have used a lighter tippet and stronger vodka though.

Peter,

you may use Fly Hair. I am not sure, but I think the inly difference is that Fly Hair II also have some angel hair in it.

EP fibres is also a suitable material. Try mixing some different dark or light colors so you get a "camouflaged" look.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
